Derek Murphy: In 2007, I started in an Outdoor Course based in Dublin called "Shackleton" there I gained the right skills from good instructors that has crafted myself into the instructor/kayaker as I am today. From there, I continued to travel around the world,living and working on world class rivers like the Rio Futaleufu in Chile to Elve Sjoa in Norway and the Soca river in Slovenia. In my kayaking I continue to keep my motivation simple, by focusing on my skills when on the river, enjoying the feeling of the boat aqua plane coming through S moves, driving the boat out of eddies, sticking a hard line, that flying feeling from a boof but most importantly getting off the river with a smile and knowing I worked myself and my boat to its fullest potential. These are things that drive my kayaking forward! Travel, Culture, Experience and kayaking. These are things that keep me motivated to continue a lifestyle of adventure.
